Our research topics
The efficiency of measures to restrict consumption in the event of natural gas supply disruptions and shutdown scenarios for large industrial consumers, including economic effects
The importance of natural gas in Germany's energy supply remains paramount, yet recent developments underscore its vulnerability due to heavy dependence on imports from third countries, notably impacted by Russia's withdrawal as a supplier since late summer 2022. This shift intensifies concerns about supply security.
Our project focuses on addressing this critical issue by exploring strategies to curtail gas consumption while minimizing economic repercussions such as reduced growth and sectoral costs. We aim to determine the most effective measures to mitigate potential supply disruptions, analyzing their quantitative and temporal savings impacts, as well as their implications for growth, production, and employment.
Through rigorous assessment, we seek to provide actionable insights to safeguard Germany's energy resilience in the face of evolving geopolitical dynamics.
